Happy New Year to you and to everyone else as well! To me it's just like any other day really, not cause for celebration. I've done the getting drunk routine before and don't miss the hangovers now.
I am not into all the celebration stuff myself, HOWEVER I do have very strong beliefs about New Years Eve .. I worked it myself because the young man who works for me has a girlfriend who means the world to him, and feeling how I do about New Years Eve I shared that belief with him, and told him that I was going to work the later shift so that he could have the time to spend with her. he was most thankful and told me before he left yesterday that he had given my Ideals about this day some thought and he agrees with me fully and thanked me a couple of times because now he was able to start a tratition of his own with her. AND as it turns out one of his very best friends in life was in town for that day and he was now able to see him as well. Iam happy for him. and all the others who managed to spend that day with someone they love, not because of a party or a lot of drinking, but because of the romance of the day and the beginning of something new and special.
I work for a Meijer Store I' am a manager of one of there photo labs, and the only day of the year we are closed is Christmas Day. the store is open 24 hours and my lab is open 7 am-11pm in comparison since you proberly don't know what a Meijer Store is, the new Super Walmarts are modled after them, they have a large grocery section. They are also our harshest competitor. Well actually there is no competition because No one can compete with Walmarts buying power. Sadly those who make the decision keep trying to, when they really need to approach this whole thing from a different view.
Well, I have heard of Meijer stores (I live on the Ontario-Michigan border). I thought it was just a grocery store chain. Wal-Mart would be stiff competion-they're everywhere. A lot of local businesses weren't happy when one opened here.
Yeah they are, and they are the biggest reason for all of our cuts we lost a lot of managers two years ago as Walmart was coming into our area. we only have stores in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and one in Kentucky. most of our stores are in Michigan. so I suppose they didnt think much about us, but when we moved into Kentucky they moved hard into Michigan. Walmart is rather ruthless.
Meijer sells all sorts of stuff, groceries is only a part of what we carry. we have General Merchandise and clothing as well. you can check it out at Meijer.Com there is even a photo link in there called my photo lab. rather cool it is allows you to choose which store you want to pick your photos up at, I have a customer in Germany who sends photos online to my store for his parents who live in close to my store, and they just come in and pick them up, it is a very easy way for him to send his mom pictures of her Grandkids.
Kentucky? Bad move. How many groceries did Meijer figure they were going to sell to people without teeth? They should have just left that territory to Wal-Mart.
