I had read interviews with Dr. Mengeles Israeli captors. They said he was a quiet, soft spoken person with none of the arrogance they expected. He was the least menacing person in the world.
He enraged one of his guards by speaking to him in Hebrew ( I can't remember if it was traditional Hebrew or Yiddish). He said to him "You know quite a bit of Hebrew" Mengele replied that he learned the language in school and had always been fond of it, and of the history of the Jewish people. The guard said "Do you know these words? "Abba" and "Imma"...Mengele said the words over and over, like he was tasting them in his mouth and he said "No, I don't know those words. What do they mean"?
Abba and Imma mean "Daddy and Mommy" It is what Jewish children screamed when you had them taken from their parents.
Mengele showed no reaction, other than a "A-haaaaa I see"
That is as close to Hitler as any of this victims ever got...
He handled himself very well. If I was face to face with the man who killed my entire family and tried to eliminate my entire race, I am not sure I could sit there and discuss it calmly.
I don't see how those Nazis could live with themselves. And they all fled like cowards. It's too bad many of them got to live into their twilight years in freedom.

I was introduced to Jim Jones about 3 years before he did the killer-kool-aid, I was a child and just thought his sun-glasses were funny. I would like to re-live that day as an adult
